• Belvoir Castle (pronounced Beaver!)- castle, gardens, and outdoor cinema, events & concerts - Home of the Duke of Rutland (who until the early 1900s owned The Red Barn) 
• Belton House National Trust - gardens and house built c. 1688, great adventure playground
• Woolsthorpe Manor – National Trust - home of Isaac Newton

• Oakham – the County town of Rutland, great shopping

• Walking - country walks and the Jubilee Way on the doorstep -  
• Walk to the serene rural Wellspring Hub for a group Yoga or Pilates class and treatment at Eastwell.  
• Running - run the walk routes or do the Parkrun at Belton House  or Belvoir Castle, or even do the Belvoir Challenge! 
• Rutland Water - aquapark, sailing, cycling, paddle boarding, fishing, powerboat courses, boat trips. 23-mile perimeter, 4200 acres
• Open Water Swimming at Race Hub 
• Hanwell Wine Estate does tours, talks and of course wine tasting as well as craft workshops and rural antics (ask me more!)
• Garthorpe Point to points, Burghley horse trials (September) 
• Cycling 

Or just sit back, relax and watch the wildlife(squirrels, cranes, pheasants, geese, swans, red kites, owls and muntjac and others!) 

There are a wealth of great places to eat nearby; Chequers at Woolsthorpe,  The Wheel at Branston, The Windmill at Redmile, The Crown at Old Dalby. The King's Arms at Scalford is a nice walk rewarded with a good Sunday lunch, and the Potting Shed in Scalford serves up a great value traditional breakfast.

Langar Hall (proper fabulous treat stuff!). Restaurant Jericho is a new special experience with 12 course tasting menu. The Tap & Run and The Engine Yard also worth a visit.

There is a fantastic choice of local produce to enjoy at TRB!  We love the farm shops; March House and Gates Farm Shops are fabulous, there is the Engine Yard, Melton Mowbray Farmers Market (Tuesday and Friday), and you can get fresh fish delivered to the door on a Thursday evening ready to barbecue.  Would also recommend Grasmere (best sausages!) and Rob Bowring at the Farmer's Market.
